A message from Florence Perren Diaz
To our family, friends, and colleagues: Andres was everything to me and our many years together were wonderful beyond measure. He also touched many people throughout his life and from all walks of life. I have heard from many people in the last few days who benefited from his generous, joyful spirit. If you would like to share a thought about Andres or if you simply want to send a message to me or other family members in this guest book, please feel free to do so.
I, along with the other members of Rev. Andres R. Diaz’s family, extend our sincere thanks and appreciation for the many heart felt expressions shown during his illness. We thank you for your prayers and comforting thoughts expressed during this hour of bereavement. From the depths of our hearts we thank the physicians, ICU nurses, and other staff members of Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, N.J. They were an army of angels fighting for his health, and life, and providing comfort and support to him and to us in his final days. We are indebted to my sister-in-law, Christine Perren, for providing inspiring prayer books which comforted and encouraged us and Andres in the hospital. We are also most appreciative of the professional care and supportive consideration shown to me and the family by Albert D. Correnti, Jr., Director, and R. Peter Hodge, Mgr., and the staff of the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home of Princeton, N.J.
We are eternally grateful for the prayers and support of the members of Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, Pleasantville, N.J., and for the support of the Church’s pastor, Rev. Mark Peake, who was a faithful visitor to Rev. Diaz and who brought him comfort in his final hours. We thank Ms. Peggy Butler, the members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Pleasantville, N.J. and its Pastor, Winfred Sanders, for their prayers and offers of support.
We will be forever grateful to our pastor, Rev. John Heinsohn, of Kingston Presbyterian Church, Kingston, N.J., who supported us and conducted Andres’ funeral service with grace, the members who consoled us, and the Church’s Deacons who provided the repast after the burial service. The family is also appreciative of the cooperation and support shown to us by Ms. Dorothea Potts, secretary of the Kingston Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
We also thank Rev. John Joyner, pastor, and the members of Grace Baptist Church, Westampton, N.J., Rev. Steven McClelland, pastor and the members of Hackensack Presbyterian Church, Hackensack, N.J., our friends from Bethany Presbyterian Church of Englewood, N.J., Andres’ former pastorate, and the hundreds of prayer angels who lifted Rev. Diaz and the family in prayer. Rev. Joyner and Rev. McClelland both participated in the funeral service along with Rev. J. Oscar McCloud, Honorably Retired Minister of the Presbyterian Church U.S. A. who contributed the moving Eulogy based on his years of friendship and ministry with Andres.
To Gloria Chambers-Benoit, William Rogers, and Nancy Wright, your gifts of music at the funeral service provided immense comfort to us all. To Zandra Strother there are not enough thanks for being there for me at Andres’ bedside as well as helping to prepare the funeral program. Our family members also provided solace and support at Andres’ bedside including his daughters, Eva, Lidya, and Deveda, their mother Sofia, his grandson Adam and his wife Melissa. Andres’ sister, Mrs. Lydia Demorizi, arrived from the Dominican Republic, during Andres’ last week and she and I gave each other strength at his bed side during that trying time. We are also thankful that Eddy Diaz, Andres’ brother was able to make flight connections from the Dominican Republic to be with us at the funeral. Though unable to travel from Ohio due to illness, my sister Esther Perren Davis, her husband Joe, and their family were with me every step of the way in spirit. Andres’ many relatives and friends from the Dominican Republic stayed in contact throughout his illness. And finally, my sons, Freddie and Chriss Williams and their families are the pillars who have stood by Andres and me throughout the years as well as this final travail. They have never failed us and they have endured this loss with me.
